From Homeless to Hope

Hello everyone,

I want to share my story in the hope that it might inspire and perhaps even bring some much-needed support.

A while back, I found myself pregnant and homeless, sleeping in my car. It was a challenging time, but I was determined to find a safe place to bring my baby into the world. Thankfully, I was able to find shelter where I could stay for 90 days. This gave me the security I needed to have my baby, Halo, in a safe environment.

However, when those 90 days were up, I had to leave with my newborn and nowhere to go. United Way stepped in and provided us with a room for a week. One of the kind ladies at the shelter then helped us secure a room for a few more days. Despite these efforts, I ended up at the Salvation Army, only to be gaslighted into returning to a toxic and unhealthy environment. This led to us being put out again, and this time, I was almost struck with an object while holding Halo.

Amid this turmoil, a good friend from work offered us a spare room in her home. Her generosity gave me the time and space to get back on my feet, and I am forever indebted to her. She also connected me with her landlord, who has a vacancy for a two-bedroom apartment. He is willing to rent it, but I am $1800 short of securing the keys.

I sold my vehicle to raise the money, but without the title and registration, I didn’t get much for it. It’s been over a year since the dealership closed and filed for bankruptcy, and I couldn’t continue driving my car uninsured and unregistered. I am okay with using public transportation, and the new place has a free bus service that will take me to the bus depot, from where I can get to wherever I need to go not to mention its close to my job.

I am reaching out to you all for help in securing this home for myself and Halo. Having a place of our own, where we don’t have to worry about being put out, would mean the world to us. The thought alone makes my heart smile. I will be able to handle the rent next month and from there on out, I just need to get the keys. Whether you can donate money, offer advice, or send prayers, please know that we are deeply grateful for your support.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

With love and gratitude, Moyzetta and Halo
