Hey everyone, I'm Janus. Close to 3 years ago, I inherited my mother's house. Ever since my partner and I moved in, we've become increasingly aware of how little the house had been maintained. Replacing the roof, gutters, water heater, and stove drained us of what little savings we had and has tied up the majority of our credit. Still, there are a number of systems that were on the verge of failing that we do what we can to maintain. Well, one of those systems has finally failed. Our HVAC units are 25+ years old. Despite having a fresh capacitor installed a few weeks ago, the outdoor unit has fully stopped working. As a result, our indoor unit has become even more strained, and I fear that we have maybe weeks left. We don't have much choice but to replace it before winter comes, but we just don't have the funds to get it taken care of. So that's where we're at right now. My only source of income at the moment is SSI, and my partner still has a week left of FMLA for a surgery she had. Even when she returns to work, it will still take close to a year to build up enough credit to replace the HVAC. So, without much in the way of options, I've come onto this platform to ask for help. Anything that you can spare will be greatly appreciated.
