Get Dash Back on His Feet

Dash Needs Help to Get Back on His Feet!

What we need:

Dash had an emergency surgery to place a plate and 4 screws to repair a broken hip socket (acetabulum) on December 1st, 2023. The impact also damaged his sciatic nerve (making him unable to put weight on his left rear leg) requiring physiotherapy, which is scheduled to start January 3, 2024.

I was able to get a loan from Care Credit to pay his surgeon, but I now have to start paying back the loan at $1250/month in addition to paying ~$500/week for his physical therapy. He has an additional minor injury of a chipped canine tooth, which I need to have evaluated by a veterinary dentist.

I myself need surgery, which I have delayed until March so I can continue to lift Dash until he is back on his feet.

Dash is my first-born son...my pick puppy from my first litter, which I co-bred with Eva Engvall. Please help me give Dash the opportunity to get back to living a happy, pain-free, and fulfilling life.

What happened:

I was loading Dash into my car in the morning as I always do. A neighborhood cat ran past just as I was taking his leash off, and he managed to push past me to chase the cat. Being a good boy, he came back to me when I called him. Tragically, a car turned the corner just after I called him. The car hit him and pushed/dragged him forward. I am so grateful that his only injury was a broken hip socket. Emergency care for shock/trauma plus the surgery and after care has been $7,688.25 to date. His physical therapy costs will be approximately another $10,000. I will update with totals from receipts and the estimate for the remainder of his care.

About Dash & Me:

Dash is a wonderful dog who makes this world a better place through providing pet therapy for pediatric oncology and neurology patients.

He is also a magnificent canine athlete and was the #2 Sprinter in his division in North America in 2021.

I lost my ability to have my own human children as a result of the chemotherapy I needed to save my life when I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in 2014. My dogs are my children and I love other people's children, who are going through cancer treatment like I did, in order to find recipients for the nurturing mother love I have inside of me.
