July 26 ,22 my grandson Jamel Austin was struck and killed in Hazelwood PGH.p.a by a reckless driver. Hazelwood is a low income housing projects that has been safety measures for these kids which my family paid dearly. This Terrible accident could have been avoided if speed humps and better lighting and precaution signs. The community asked for decades for these simple things from the city but no was the answer for these low income families. That wasn't good enough for Dashieba Wilder you took something from me now I wNt something from you. I left my job of 8 years as a kitchen Manger inside the Allegheny county jail. Full time with benefits. To fight for these things so that I would never hear those horrible screams my daughter yelled ever again. Every day i drove from the Northside to Hazelwood I stood in the same intersection that my grandson lost his life and cross those students to and from school from 08/17/22 to 04/01/22 when the first speed humps were in placed. Living off my savings. Had to sell my truck currently my power is shut off rent is behind.i knew my lifestyle would change leaving my job. I just didn't count on it taking this late trying to bounce back to some sort of normal. I just want to save my home of 24 years. But I would do all over again. Cause ever housing projects that has a third if the residents are kids seniors or disabled must have these safety measures. My grandson lives on. But I don't want to lose my home. Grieving grandma
