Grieving Mother Support
Dearest community and extended community,
It is with a heavy heart we share the news that after a very long labor, our beloved Mama Maeleigh birthed her sweet baby girl and sadly, she did not take in her first breath.
Mae carried this sweet being to full term and then experienced an unimaginable loss.
Mae has been happily living in her full sized school bus where she planned to be with her baby until moving into a home with friends on November 5th. However, she now needs a new space to call home especially in these first weeks of postpartum.
Her mother has flown in to support her in this time and she has many supportive women by her side as well as the father of the baby who has also come to support. And, more emotional support from the community is very much invited…an invitation to turn towards rather than away from. Being held by the larger community in this time will be so impactful to Mae's healing and well being.
Right now they are staying at a hotel in Cortez, CO which puts them at quite a distance from much of her support team. And even though this hotel has amenities, it is still a hotel and not a home.
The postpartum time is a time for deep rest and rejuvenation. And with the loss of her baby, the need for deep emotional support is exponential.
This campaign is a request for financial support to put Maeleigh and family into a warm supportive home in Mancos or Durango through the rest of October.
Finances will also support feeding her postpartum specific foods, medical support, grief support, burial costs, and any other unforeseen expenses from this incredibly challenging time.
Truly any amount will be of huge benefit.
Prayers and love are always welcome. We will also post details for a meal train if you are local and would also love to cook a nourishing meal.
Thank you for your generosity.
