While they were sleeping peacefully on the night of Friday, November 3rd, our sister Karen and her husband Dusty were the victims of a home invasion. Three people forced entry into their bedroom and Dusty was shot and killed while he was attempting to defend his family. The suspects then robbed the house while Karen and Dusty's daughter hid silently in her bedroom. Karen was then held at gunpoint and taken to a nearby bank in an attempt to force her to withdraw money. Thinking quickly, Karen managed to escape and run to a gas station where she contacted the police. 

This senseless and violent tragedy has left Karen and her two children traumatized without their husband and father, as well any form of income. 

We, her family, have launched this fundraiser in order to raise money for their family at this incalculably difficult time.

After a manhunt, the final suspect in this brutal series of events was caught on Sunday, November 6th after a chase during which he shot at police officers numerous times.

While we are relieved that these suspects have been apprehended and will eventually face justice, our beloved Dusty is gone and Karen and her children are in need of financial support.
