In March 2025, I underwent emergency surgery after contracting flesh-eating bacteria at work. The recovery has been long and painful—I’m currently on a wound vac and unable to work until I’m medically cleared at the end of May. During this time, I was placed on unpaid leave and eventually let go. With no savings left—having already depleted them after being laid off in 2023—I’m now facing eviction and utility shutoffs. Medical bills are piling up, and each day feels heavier than the last. I’m doing everything I can to stay hopeful and push through.
