Hamza Fam Evac Gaza
My name is Nina Gorman, a 68 year old psychotherapist and social science college teacher from Philadelphia, PA USA. I am doing this campaign to help from friend Hamza Abu Rida (21 years old) from Khan Yunis, Al Mawasi, in Gaza to survive the terrible war and hopefully evacuate to Egypt to start a new life in another country. He is sole provider for his family of nine including his father, Hazem Abu Rida (49), his mother, Sawsan Abu Rida (45), his siblings, Hamoud (23), Joso (19), Lulu (14), his older sister Baraa (24) and her two children Muath and Ali.
I came to know Hamza at the beginning of the war two years ago via social media, meta where we shared many conversations and he shared many videos on his trials and tribulations including family loss of their precious homes and dreams, multiple displacements with escaping bombings, moving place to place and losing many loved ones and items. His mother Sawsan suffers from chronic diabetes, high blood pressure and heart problems with challenges getting medications since they are blocked by the occupation to hospitals which are short of supply so must be purchased at high expense in private pharmacies. Hamza suffers from eye disorder, amblyopia which causes his one eye to close. Doctor tells him he needs surgery which is not available in Gaza due to the destruction of hospitals and from surgeons unavailable who can do the operation since many have been detained and killed by the occupation. Due to these health issues and the continued bombings, and shootings and such difficulty surviving in Gaza with forced starvation, the family hopes for evacuation to Egypt though the expense is extremely high about $6,000 per adult and $2500 per child.
Fresh food especially meat, cheese ,eggs, vegetables and fish are typically unavailable or at extreme expense due to blockade of food by the occupation and the killing of the fishermen. Their tent is crowded and small with damage from rains and they really need a new one. They wait in long lines for food and often come back with little or nothing and they need cleaners since the bugs, snakes and rodents are invading the tent and they need medicine for rashes and the parasitic infections.
I urge you to find it in your hearts to help this family survive to get food, drink, cleaners, hopefully a new tent, medications, and ideally evacuation from Gaza. Right now they just need to survive. No donation is too small. Every dollar counts.
Any and all donations will be transferred from my secure USA bank account to the secure PayPal of Hamza Abu Rida . The Budget is below the words of Hamza
Here is Hamza in his own words:
You may notice me smiling in my pictures but my smiles hide a lot of pain. I strive to smile for my children and teach them to do the same. We fled Beit Hanoun in northeast Gaza on October 7, 2023, a very difficult day. We moved through many areas to escape bombing and death and each time we miraculously survived. Even during our displacements we moved to areas where massacres occurred. On one occasion we were only a few meters away from where others were bombed and killed. I will never forget that day with images that do not vanish from my mind. Those were terrifying moments beyond words. We lost dear ones from our family.
We are now displaced in the Khan Yunis area of Al Mawasi living in a crowded small tent unfit for habitation. Insects, snakes and rodents infest the tent making our lives miserable day and night. It is difficult enough to sleep with hunger and fear of bombing but even more difficult to be wake constantly with insects biting you, fear of the rats doing the same or itching from parasitic infections
We hope we can evacuate so that my mother and I can receive treatment. She suffers from diabetes, high blood pressure and severe heart problems with continual irregular heart beat with palpitations. I am suffering from problem of my left eye with a disorder called amblyopia where my eye muscles do not work properly and cause my eye to close. The doctors say both my mother and I need surgery to get back to normal.
We have aspired to leave Gaza several times but what hinders us and makes it impossible is the very high cost of evacuation which is at least $ 6,000 per adult and sometimes more. This is a very huge amount of money and we do not have any of it. We hope to evacuate to Egypt and then to another country so that we can survive and hopefully I can become a nurse and support my family.
All we care about now is that the genocide does not increase. The genocide is being promoted again in the media with the return of more war in Gaza being both unavoidable and imminent. The genocide continues with starvation with the blocking of aid by the occupation and its supporters causing prices to rise on the meager goods available. We struggle waiting in lines for food and carrying heavy jugs of water leading to sore backs and exhaustion and suffer malnourishment. I also aspire to be a nurse but I do not know if and when that will happen but if we can evacuate I will be sure it does. I have always studied hard and have been at the top of my class. Those dreams I fear have been dashed by the occupation but I hold on to them and will never give up.
We hope you can find it in your hearts to support us, to decrease our daily suffering, fear and fatigue so that we can survive and hopefully escape this nightmare. We only want a normal life and have dreams and goals like anyone us. If you can help us make that happen we would be most gracious and wish for you a thousand blessings.
Sincerely,
Hamza
