I am a social justice activist, an anti-racism and anti-misogynoir strategist and workshop facilitator, and an ordained minister. For years, I have sat with people in churches, boardrooms, and community spaces around the questions of equity and justice, voicing that which most would rather not name out loud.

Now I am studying them formally. I am a first-year doctoral student at Hampton University, pursuing a PhD in Public Theology and Community Engagement. It is a homecoming that I am happy to make, as I earned my bachelor's degree at Hampton and am returning to the campus that shaped me. My research examines how Black women claim and use their voice in public life, in the pulpit, in the community, and in the rooms where decisions get made.

I completed my master's at UNC Wilmington during the pandemic. An independent study there on the sociopolitical voice of Black women became the seed of what I am pursuing now. The work kept me calm and focused when little else did.

My PhD program runs through Spring 2030. I am raising funds to cover tuition, books, and travel for the week-long residency at Hampton each June.
