Heather's 40th Birthday Wish

Greetings! I am so excited to celebrate my 40th birthday today, Wednesday, January 13, 2021. It is the perfect time for me to share my plans for the next professional venture, entrepreneurship. As you may know, I took a leap of faith in late 2019 when I left my corporate career after 16 years of service. This career was where I grew up and became an adult. I graduated from college in 2003 on a Saturday and started work 9 days later. I mention this to create a picture of the magnitude of this decision to leave my career. The decision to leave was very unsettling for me because I was making a voluntary choice to leave a comfortable work environment. I was scared. I was nervous and I didn't know how to process the uncertainty, so I prayed. I was still nervous, but I prayed more and asked the Lord to help me to not be scared. I became paralyzed in fear, so I prayed even more! It was only after roughly 18 months or so did I feel confident to move forward and live in my passion and purpose.

Today, I am sharing with you that I have started my own company, HBD Enterprise LLC. This company offers business and marketing consulting and creative branding products such as custom t-shirts, crafting, and event/party products. I am also very pleased to announce that I am the founder of a non-profit called, The Great Days Leadership Academy. The purpose of the leadership academy is to support the community by providing unique and valuable leadership programs, mentoring, and support for youth to shape them into critical thinkers who are confident leaders. I absolutely love being able to make a positive impact on my three children and all other children and it is evident in every opportunity I have to work with them.

These are big changes for me at a great time in my life. With this decision, I am finally exactly where I want to be, and I am moving forward in faith as I balance being a wife, mother, and champion of positively shaping the lives of youth - as they are our future.
