Heart Transplant Student

Hello,

My name is Padraic.

I live in the Northeastern section of the United States and am a 30-year-old male with a heart transplant and a rare form of a muscular disease called Barth Syndrome.

Thankfully, I have been incredibly fortunate and have remained in good health ever since my recovery from heart failure, having received my heart transplant and a second chance at life at the age of 17. I am thirteen years post-heart transplant and in excellent health (Which I am grateful for every day)

Despite having challenges with my health since birth, I have lived a blessed and full life. These health challenges both physical and mental have been brought on by an extremely rare muscular disease known as Barth Syndrome.

Despite the hand, that I have been dealt, I have remained determined to work hard to improve my quality of life and maintain a positive outlook on life in the face of these daunting health challenges. I have not allowed moments of despair and continuous health challenges to prevent me from living a full, blessed life.

This brings me to why I created this GoFundMe page. I have been accepted into a radiology-technology program here in the Northeast that will begin in January 2025.

This program is highly competitive and, as you may have guessed, expensive. Over the past year, I have taken five classes and worked multiple jobs (6) to place myself in the possession to be admitted to the program, and still meet rent/bills/

With these added expenses of program costs, books, and trying to keep a roof over my head, I am overwhelmed financially. I intend to work part-time during the program, but I am worried this will be detrimental and will not allow me to focus on school entirely and leave me unable to cover the costs of school.

Unfortunately, I am not wealthy, or fortunate enough to have a financial support system that I can reach out to.

However, I believe in the kindness of strangers and hope that others recognize the hard work I have put in to improve my life and place myself in a hospital environment where I can give back.

I am not one to usually ask for help, but any little bit would help me with these expenses and allow me to keep chasing down this dream. I am close.

Thank you to all who took the time to read this. I wish you nothing but the best in your life.
