I am reaching out on behalf of my mother, a deeply resilient woman who has spent the last several years entirely devoted to caring for others, but who now urgently needs our help to stay in her home.

In late 2019, my parents relocated to a small coastal community to build a new life together. Tragically, just months later in April 2020, my dad suffered a severe stroke. In an instant, their dreams for the future changed. My mom immediately stepped into the role of his full-time caretaker. For over five years, they managed the intense physical and financial hurdles of his disability together, living on his SSDI and her small income as his caregiver.

Tragedy struck again in December 2025. Just eleven days shy of their 21st wedding anniversary, my dad passed away unexpectedly.

Losing him was heartbreaking, but the financial fallout was also immediate and devastating. Because of his passing, all of their household income stopped instantly.

My mom is currently too young to draw survivor benefits, and while her own Social Security Disability (SSDI) claim is in its final stages, the government bureaucracy takes time—time she simply does not have.

While caring for my dad, my mom selflessly put her own severe health battles on the back burner. She lives with a rare, life-threatening genetic heart condition (CPVT), chronic pain from a twisting spine and fibromyalgia, severe hearing loss requiring surgery, PTSD, and ADHD. Her physical limitations are now so severe that even basic tasks like standing to cook or vacuum can only be done for a few minutes at a time.

Despite her grief and her own failing health, her heart for helping others hasn't stopped. She still spends what little energy she has delivering food bank supplies to homebound neighbors who can't get it themselves. She is used to being the helper, not the one asking for help.

She managed to stretch every penny to cover rent and utilities through April 2026, but the well has run dry. She is now facing imminent eviction. Her back rent, plus the upcoming rent for October, totals just under $10,000. Her SSDI approval is expected within the next few months, which will permanently stabilize her situation, but she needs a bridge to get there so she doesn't lose her home.

We have no family able to financially support this crisis. Every single dollar raised will go directly toward clearing the past-due rent and securing her housing for the next month while her disability claim is in its final stages.
