Help-A-Grammie
Thank you for taking the time to read the reason for having to do this fundraiser. I am a senior having just turned 71 y.o. a few months ago, I am also a grandmother. I’m a retired legal secretary, stenographer, babysitter, cashier, and data processor who, like everyone else who is retired, have been living on a fixed income and my credit, to put it bluntly, no so good. I was living in a senior citizen residence for two years however when it came time to renew my lease the manager advised me that they were not going to renew it a third year because my son had moved in with me and I hadn’t added him on the lease. Well I didn’t really anticipate he’d be staying as long as he did however due to his circumstances I allowed him to stay with me. Sure he works but these rents are so high now he would not have been able to pay his rent car note insurance and provide for his daughters after his separation from his wife. So I ended up having to try to find a new home but before I could move I was evicted and that was in September of 2023. I put all my belongings in storage, my son moved in with a friend, and I ended up trying to stay with different folks on a temporary basis but ultimately my son got a place and I was able to move into his one-bedroom apartment where I’ve been for almost five months. I sleep on his couch, i share the rent and electric bills with him, neither of us have a car and I’m still paying for the storage space I got in 2023. We are both afraid his landlord may likewise not renew his lease since I’m not on it then we’ll both be homeless again. I’ve tried to apply for an apt in my name but with the eviction on my record until I can pay what I left owing to the landlord where I live, I’m not getting approved and losing application fees that are not refundable. I got scammed twice and lost money trying to make money and my credit score is too low to get approved for a loan or even a car. I’m staring to feel more depressed coming into a new year without having my own home or a car as well as my belongings still being in storage over a year. There are so many things in storage that I can use but without a car to even retrieve anything substantial I would also have to have someone help me dig through the bags the sheriffs office placed my things in and I just don’t have the resources or funds I need . I am praying for a miracle and i believe that if I have enough money I can possibly make a down payment on a home or even buy a used RV that I could call home and get to visit my grandchildren reside eventually. I am a breast cancer survivor, I have arthritis and glaucoma but before i let my illnesses succumb me I just want to be in my own place again and enjoy the things I’ve accumulated over the years and have peace of mind. My son is 51 y.o. and he too deserves his privacy and ability to have his friends over without my presence and some of my things taking up his space. Of course he’ll miss my cooking but he will enjoy the peace of being a bachelor himself. I can’t express how deeply appreciative I am to know that there are indeed some good people in the world who have the heart and desire to help folks like me and I pray you are one of them. I miss my bed, being able to listen softly to my gospel music any time of night without worrying about waking my son up before his 6 am alarm. I also didn’t mention that I love to crotchet but lately have been unable to stock up on yarn to create anything. I usually give as gifts for birthdays, holidays, baby showers and if it’s the Lords will someday I would love to set up an account online and sell my creations. This hobby also helps with stress and relaxes me to the fullest. I don’t get food stamps and since the price of everything has gone up I have had to visit food pantries and only take what I can fit in my little buggy/shopping cart since I have to use public transportation. With the winter here now I’ll be doing a lot less traveling as the cold affects my arthritis. This is why I am doing this fundraiser as I need help and am appreciative of whatever I can get from kind people like you. May God continue to bless you and please keep me in your prayers. Humbly yours, Michelle “Grammie” 🙏🙏❤️❤️
