Help Our Sweet Bentley Fight His Way Home ❤️

A few days ago, we woke up to something no pet parent ever wants to see. Our sweet 13-year-old Shih Tzu, Bentley, was throwing up white, foamy fluid. He couldn’t get comfortable and was pacing from place to place, clearly hurting and trying to find some relief.

We rushed him to the animal hospital. They ran bloodwork, took X-rays, gave him nausea medication and fluids, and tried to figure out what was happening. His liver values were extremely elevated, but thankfully, the first X-rays didn’t show an obvious obstruction. We were able to bring our boy home, hoping and praying that he would finally start feeling better.

But the next morning, September 29th, everything changed.

Bentley began crying continuously. He was in obvious pain and started vomiting a brownish fluid. We knew something was terribly wrong, so we rushed him back to the vet hospital.

More X-rays were done, and this time they found it — Bentley had a bowel obstruction and severely inflamed intestines.

He needed emergency surgery.

Our hearts were absolutely shattered. At 13 years old, watching our little boy go through something this frightening has been one of the hardest things we’ve ever experienced. But we couldn’t give up on him. We had to give him every chance we could.

He made it through surgery, and yesterday, around 6:30 PM, we were finally able to bring him home. We thought maybe we could breathe for a moment. Instead, Bentley cried throughout the entire night. We stayed beside him, trying to comfort him and praying that he would turn a corner.

Then this morning, September 30th, Bentley started vomiting again.

He is now back at the veterinary hospital, receiving fluids and more medication while they monitor him and try to get his little body stabilized.

We are absolutely heartbroken and scared. 💔 Bentley isn’t just a dog. He has been part of our family for 13 years. He has been there through some of the hardest moments of our lives, offering nothing but unconditional love and companionship.

Now he needs us to be there for him.

Between multiple emergency vet visits, bloodwork, X-rays, medications, hospitalization, and emergency surgery, the veterinary bills have become more than we ever could have imagined. And with Bentley still needing medical care, we don’t know what the final cost will be.
