Friends, I'm asking for a favor today.

Many of you know that I've walked through more grief than I ever thought a person could survive. When my world fell apart, this community showed up for me in ways I'll never forget. You carried me when I couldn't stand on my own, and I'll spend the rest of my life being grateful for that.

Today, I'm asking if we can do that for my lifelong friend, Brandy.

Brandy has suffered every parent's worst nightmare—the loss of her son. There are no words big enough for that kind of heartbreak. Right now, while she's trying to navigate unimaginable grief, she's also facing the financial burden that comes with laying her son to rest.

Here on the Kenai Peninsula, funeral expenses can easily range from $8,000 to $14,000. No mother should have to worry about how she's going to pay those expenses while trying to survive the worst days of her life.
