Campaign Title: Help Bridge the Assisted Living Gap for Nives Johnson

We are reaching out to ask for your urgent support for our beloved Nives Johnson and her daughter Sandra Duke.

As many of you know, just last year Nives went from living on her own to needing the loving care of her son and his wife in their home. After the move, she quickly transitioned into needing part-time caregivers, and now she needs full-time professional care. We are so happy to report that her daughter, Sandra (Sandi) Duke, has found a wonderful assisted living home here in Hawaii where Nives is safe and receiving around-the-clock professional care.

A permanent financial plan is already in motion.

There have been some challenges to finalizing Nives’ long-term Medicaid benefits. Sandi has been working for months with an elder law attorney to manage the complex state administrative and documentation requirements. The lawyer feels confident that they will obtain these approvals in only 2-3 more months, but Nives could wait no longer for full-time care. So, to ensure her mom received uninterrupted care, Sandi stepped up and took out an emergency personal loan to cover these initial bridge months out-of-pocket.

We want to help Sandi carry this sudden financial burden. We are raising a specific goal of $7,958.11 to pay for exactly one month of assisted living care while the approval processes are finalized.
