Please help Buddy kick cancers butt!! If you know Buddy, you know what a great, positive, loving and hilarious man he is. He is the best grandad in the world with a bond with his 6 year old grandson like no other. He has his 1 yr old grandson he is just getting to know more everyday and a granddaughter due in Feb that he wants to meet. In a world full of boys he is finally getting his girl. He has a lot to fight for. In September of this year Buddy thought he had pneumonia and went to the ER. Unfortunately it wasn’t as simple as that and they found a hilar mass and several nodules and a swollen lymph node. He was having a hard time breathing. They admitted him to the hospital where he spent 8 days. 3 of them in ICU. While he was there his heart went into Afib and they were focused on that. They did perform a biopsy and it came back benign so he was given antibiotics and steroids with hope of improvement. He continued to have a hard time breathing so he continued seeing his pulmonologist who was concerned about him having no improvement on his breathing so the pulmonologist ordered another biopsy, this time using a robotic device to get deeper tissue. He went in to get this done on Nov 17th and he went into Afib again and was admitted back to the hospital. The procedure was rescheduled and finally performed on Nov 25th. Dec 5 the day of his 62nd Birthday he was informed that it was cancer and with the delay of diagnosis and treatment it had spread and he was told it was now Stage 4 Metastatic Mucinous Adenocarcinoma. Which is very rare type of lung cancer. He needs to start treatment very soon and he does have an appointment for Dec 19th at MD Anderson in Houston, TX for a second opinion. We are hoping he will be eligible for a clinical trial or they can give him alternative treatment on top of chemo and possible radiation. He has not been able to even start chemo due to still waiting for insurance approval. 

Insurance is not covering everything and the treatments and testing is very expensive plus the expense of traveling out of town. He is not able to go back to work at this time and his wife Darbie is the only source of income right now and she is having to take time off work for these appointments and to help care for him when he isn’t feeling well.
