Help Buster the bait dog
Missouri K9 Friends rescued Buster from a caring citizen that saw him wandering the streets with a limp and emaciated. Buster was brought to the emergency vet clinic immediately.
Emaciated, fresh and old bite wounds, covered in fleas, dehydrated, tested positive for severe heartworm infection, parasites, damaged leg, chunks of flesh missing, teeth that appeared to be intentionally pulled out, filed down and broken, and full of infection in his mouth and wounds. These are all indicative of a "bait dog", a dog that is used as the bait in dog fighting rings to train dogs to fight. The teeth are removed so he cannot defend himself against the attacks.
Buster is now safe and has a long road of recovery ahead of him. He is staying in ICU until we know he is stable. He is currently getting IV fluids, nutrition, antibiotics and having his wounds cleaned and monitored. The heartworm infection treatment will begin as soon as he is strong enough to withstand the harsh drugs necessary to kill the heartworms. He will also need knee surgery, oral surgery and his neuter surgery. The first step is getting him stable and strong enough to handle all the medical treatments needed for him.
All money collected will be used for his care.
