Whether you know him by CJ or Carlos, you know how much he loves his family, friends, sports, and just being able to live his life.

Unfortunately, for the past several years, he has been fighting a serious lung disease that has has permanently scarred his lungs, making everyday life increasingly difficult.

Cj was diagnosed with interstitial lung disease (ILD) which has required him to use supplemental oxygen to help him breathe. His oxygen needs increase significantly with activity, and something as simple as walking, showering, or getting through a normal day requires lugging around big oxygen tanks and being tangled up in oxygen hoses.

Despite everything, he has continued working and doing his best to live his life.

But recently, we received news that changed everything.

After going through an extensive lung transplant evaluation, his transplant team told him that they want to move forward with the process of placing him on the waiting list for a double-lung transplant!🫁

For the first time, we have a very real path forward.

At the same time, we know that this journey will bring significant expenses. Even with insurance, there will be costs associated with surgery, ICU/hospital stay, medications, transportation, the beginning of many life long appointments, household expenses, and the recovery period after transplant. There will also be time when he will be unable to work and will need me to be provide 24 hour support for the first few months at home.

That being said, we are starting this fundraiser to help relieve some of the financial pressure off of our family so that we can focus on what matters most: getting healthy after getting his new lungs.
