Doug's Medical Exp
Douglas has suffered multiple heart attacks over the years and diagnosed with AFIB. Despite his health issues, on July 13, 2023, Douglas was on a flight to Missouri to start a new job. During his flight he had a heart attack. We almost lost him thousands of miles from us. Scary as hell not being there for him knowing he was alone after taking a job thousands of miles away so he could support his family made it even harder. Although he could not move forward with the position, Douglas received medical attention there in Missouri that not only saved his life that day, but finally had answers for the the muscle loss in his arms and his loss of strength in his hands. Douglas was told that tests revealed Muscular Distrophy markers. Douglas now has SSDI but has been denied Medical in California and has been unable to treat his disease.
Thanks to the wonderful state of Missouri's Medicaid program and allowing him to be covered because of the severity of his illness, on April 30, 2024, Douglas was diagnosed with Myotonic Dystrophy 1. This disease deteriorates the muscles that allow your body to function. Douglas is losing the use of his hands rapidly, developed Cardiomyopathy and will likely need a pace maker. The disease is also affecting his eyesight and will need cataract surgery. This is just the start of what is to come for him. All his treatments are in Missouri and he desperately needs help to cover expenses to recieve the treatments to slow down progression and help with the costs for his medications.
