Help Eva Get Her Leg Back

How could we deny such an unforgettable face! We were contacted by ZoomDog Supplements President Neal Lynch about helping a young female Pointer who had just been found with a fractured femur. The bone was shattered and would required extensive surgery to reconstruct the pieces back together. This was not something that could be done locally, so this girl who had been named Skye would need to be transported out of area. Without this surgery, Skye faced amputation due to the severity of the break. Her local rescuers, Rachel and Samantha, were networking around the clock to find a rescue that could take her and see her through the surgery that would save her leg. Time was of the essence, as each passing day reduced the chances of a successful outcome...

This is when Neal offered to connect us with a surgeon and assist in raising funds if we agreed to bring Skye into our program and coordinate the details of her care. How could we say no. We agreed and named her Eva, which means “full of life”, to honor her beautiful spirit and strength.

We wanted Eva to have the best chances and make a full recovery so we immediately went to work coordinating her rescue. Thanks to Neal and Dr. John Kuck, owner of Willits Veterinary Hospital, within hours we were placed in contact with Dr. Mike Schlicksup, the board certified surgeon at Veterinary Specialty Care who would perform the surgery. Dr. Kuck and Dr. Schlicksup agreed that while it was a complex surgery, the limb could be repaired using plates and an interlocking nail system. The surgery was scheduled and we proceeded to move Eva. Here is Eva's Pre-Surgery Video. As you can see, she is trying to bear weight on her leg, even with a broken bone. The bandage is there strictly for support.

We are thrilled to have been given a chance to help Eva, and hope you will be too. Please help Eva by contributing to her surgery fund.

Thank you all in advance for helping Eva get her leg back.
