My top surgery is scheduled for March 2026. I only have health insurance until I turn 26 in June, and once I decided to take the leap while I could, it’s happened incredibly fast.

While insurance will be (tentatively – pre-authorization) covering some of the base operative cost, I am responsible for a significant portion including anesthesia. I’m very lucky that I will have incredible friends taking care of me after surgery. However, I work a physical full-time job as a daycare caregiver for young infants and while FMLA protects my job, I do not have benefits. Due to strict arm and upper body mobility restrictions and being unable to lift and carry, I will most likely be out of work for six weeks. I’m hoping to raise funds towards rent, bills, and groceries during that time, as well as the remaining operative costs and the required post-surgical medical supplies and recovery items.

The freedom that top surgery will give me for my future plans and hopes is indescribable. I am so deeply grateful to everyone who shares or donates. I would not be here without my community and I would not be able to obtain this lifechanging care without y’all. Thank you!
