Urgent appeal to help the people left of one family. I have never done crowdfunding before, and am organizing this on behalf of our friend, Ihab Samir Abujabara, and his family.

He is trying desperately to bring his wife and last remaining son of four to safety.

Ihab left Gaza in 2022, making his way to Egypt and then Turkey, and then to Greece in September 2023. He was working to find a better life for his family. While he was waiting in the migrant camp, the October 7 attack and subsequent war in Gaza unfolded.

Ihab had already suffered the loss of two other young sons, Malek and Karem, in earlier bombings. In late December, 2023, another devastating attack destroyed their home in central Gaza. His mother and one more son, Zain, perished. Two months later, Ihab's sister and her children were killed, and just two weeks ago, his brother and his two children. 

Over 19 family members are gone.

Mona and 10 year old Samir, Ihab's wife and only remaining son, are still in Gaza. They spend their days in fear and hunger, inside whatever shelter they can find, since there is constant danger everywhere. Ihab has not seen them in nearly two years. 

Samir has already lost his three younger brothers, his grandmother, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and home to bombings. Samir himself was injured just two weeks ago during yet another attack, but he is thankfully recovered. 

Time is of the essence! We can save what is left of this one family if we hurry.

Ihab was a physical education teacher and soccer coach in Gaza. He has gained official status as a refugee in Greece, received his passport and identity card, is working, and learning Greek. He has friends who support him and care deeply about this cause.

Ihab's heart is broken, yet despite all he has suffered, he has endured as a kind, gentle soul. 

Please, please donate what you can.

It is crucial we get them out of Gaza immediately. Any funds raised over the goal will be used to help Samir and Muna during their time in Egypt, and the family get safely settled once in Athens.
