Two weeks ago, my family's world changed. We all learned he has a large tumor.  

Ben is an amazing man. He is one of the most caring, loving and friendly men, that you will ever meet. He will help anyone with anything if he is capable of it, kind of like the man who would give his last dollar to help a stranger. And he always has a joke to share and a smile and laugh to give. 

His tumor is a Sarcoma of the Soft Tissue and it is malignant. It is a large aggressive tumor. His treatment will require at least 8 doctors that we know of. And the tumor has started to melt parts of rips 4 & 5. Once the tumor is removed, the ribs will cave in. That could cause issues with the heart and possibly other organs. 

He will have many tests over the upcoming weeks:

- CT of the brain

-PET scan of his entire chest and abdomen to ensure there are no additional places that it may have metastasized

-Genetics Study

-Excisional Biopsy

-Meet with upstate Orthopedic Oncologist Surgeon (requires travel to Greenville SC for these visits and treatments)

-Meet Cardiologist Surgeon for possible future needs

-Travel to NC to visit Sarcoma Center

And then,

-Radiation of the tumor

-Surgery to remove the tumor 

-More Radiation 

-Chemotherapy 

-And will also need surgery after the tumor has been removed to rebuild his ribs 

Our problem is that Ben's medical insurance is not very good. He has to pay an $80 co-pay for each doctor appointment or test. And other co-pays for the major treatments. 

Why am I telling you this? Because Ben needs our help! Their house was partially flooded in the fall, leaving them with a higher monthly house payment. They have only recently been able to start construction. That alone has almost bankrupted the family. His wife, Ginger, continues to struggle with MS daily and this has already put a strain on family finances.
