Help for Joselin & Manuel
Joselin and Manuel are a young Guatemalan couple in their 20s. They have 2 beautiful daughters, Shirley (7) and Heidy (1). They both work hard- Manuel works in construction and Joselin takes care of the girls (including taking Heidy to lots of medical appointments- she has a genetic condition which requires lots of therapies and medical appointments), and she cleans Airbnbs on weekends. They have overcome many hardships and obstacles to make a little life for themselves in Colorado.
Unfortunately, this year Manuel was diagnosed with a kidney condition which started to make him increasingly sick. He was told he would need to begin 4-hour dialysis treatments 3 days a week. He resisted for a long time, knowing that missing even one day of work could put them behind on their rent and bills. He didn't want to cause his family any financial stress, or rack up medical debt he couldn't pay. Finally, the illness debilitated him to the point that he could no longer get out of bed, let alone go to work. In late November, he finally agreed to start dialysis. His health is already improving, but he is not strong enough to go back to work, and even when he can, his schedule will be limited by the dialysis appointments every week.
This family could use some help to get through the next few months- so Manuel can get stronger and figure out a new work schedule, and so that he and Joselin don't have to worry about losing their apartment or their children going hungry in the meantime. My goal is to be able to provide them 3 months of rent and living expenses, so they can focus on Manuel's health and be free from additional stress during this time.
