Help for my daughter w/MS
Dear friends, family and generous people,
I am writing to you on behalf of my daughter, Amanda, who has multiple sclerosis (MS). MS is a chronic and incurable disease that affects the central nervous system, causing symptoms such as fatigue, pain, vision problems, and mobility issues. MS can make everyday tasks difficult or impossible, especially for children who are still growing and learning.
One of the challenges that my daughter faces is entering our new home. I lost my job in August and had to move from our apartment in Atlanta to Chicago to live with my sister in law. Her home has a set of decrepit stairs that are unsafe and inaccessible for Amanda. My sister in law and her children are used to playing hopscotch to find the right step that will get them to the front door but Amanda has to rely on me or other caregivers to carry her up and down the stairs, which is exhausting and risky for both of us. She feels frustrated and helpless, unable to enjoy the independence and dignity that she was used to. My sister in law has tried to save money in the past to get them fixed, but other needs always took priority. I tried to get the grant that we used to get a ramp in our apartment or find other resources but I haven't found anything.
That is why I am asking for your generous donation to fix the stairs for my daughter. With your support, we can hire a contractor to repair and renovate the stairs, making them sturdy and stable. I can also install a ramp or a lift to make the entrance more accessible for my daughter and her wheelchair. This will make a huge difference in her life, allowing her to enter and exit our home with ease and confidence.
My daughter loves her dog, who is her best friend and companion. Her dog helps her cope with the stress and loneliness of living with MS. She wants to be able to play with her dog outside and take him for walks. But she can't do that without a safe and accessible entrance to our home. Please, help us make my daughter's dream come true. Any amount you can give will be greatly appreciated and put to good use.
Thank you for your kindness and generosity and I hope that together, we can fix the stairs for my daughter and her dog and make our new home a place of joy, safety and peace.
