Help for Witty's Surgery
Hello everyone and thank you for taking the time to read this. My name is Simone and I am the dog mom of Witty ( Witco ) an 8 year old Blue Heeler mix and a 5 year old German Shepard named Stormy Jean.
I, like many love my dogs like my own, they are considered family, and I couldn't imagine my life without them. I am writing this with tears in my eyes on behalf of Witty. Witty came into my life almost 8 years ago as a baby pup. He was rescued off of Warm Springs Reservation in central Oregon. I was puppy sitting and ended up adopting him, and we have been inseparable ever since. He is my sidekick. He is not only beautiful but the most loving, obedient , attentive dog with an incredibly peaceful demeanor, and wins the hearts of everyone he meets. He loves walks, the beach, playing fetch, any kind of ball, belly rubs, swimming, back scratches, watching squirrels, his sister Stormy, and his mama.
Unfortunately in November 2020 he was playing fetch and tripped over his front right leg and breaking his "wrist". It turned out being a complete fracture, and my world changed when the vet told me it could be not only a fracture but a type of bone cancer called Osteosarcoma. There is no treatment for Osteosarcoma however surgery ( amputation ) and chemotherapy can delay the progression, with the dog still having a good quality of life.
On Sunday March 14 Witty's health seemed to decline drastically. He wasn't eating or drinking water. He was in obvious discomfort. On Monday we rushed to the vet and after some x-rays found out that it is indeed Osteosarcoma. The vet stated that surgery to remove his front right leg is necessary, as the cancer has not spread. While this is the hardest pill to swallow, it's something that with no questions asked needs to happen. He received some prescriptions to help with the pain, and his attitude made a complete turn around when we took him home, he was moving around, eating very well, and drinking water normally. He lights up when anyone he knows enters the room and the tail wags have been non stop. We are so grateful.
The cost of the procedure is estimated to be approximately 1653.75. After paying close to 1000.00 in recent vet visits and tests, I am financially exhausted. I have applied for care credit and a small loan . I cannot come up with the money alone. And so I write this today asking for any kind of assistance to pay for this surgery. I know the times we live in have been incredibly hard for everyone. Time is crucial as as soon as I have the funding I am able to schedule the surgery, and give witty a chance to live his years out with all the love and care he deserves.
Thank you to everyone for taking the time to read this. It is incredibly hard for me to ask for help but I have no other choice. He simply is the most wonderful dog. Please send good thoughts his way, and in your hearts.
We are forever grateful for any and all assistance we receive. If it weren't for you he wouldn't be one step closer to spending his life with his loved ones.
Sincerely,
Simone, Witty, and Stormy Jean.
