**Help Hilda Romero Come Home**

Dear Friends, Family, and Kind Strangers,

My name is Guadalupe Ruiz, and I am reaching out for your help and support in a time of urgent need. My beloved daughter, Hilda Romero, recently found herself in an unfortunate and distressing situation while traveling in Mexico City.

On May 17, 2024, Hilda was driving through the city when a motorcyclist suddenly and recklessly crossed in front of her vehicle. Despite her best efforts to avoid a collision, she struck the motorcyclist. Although the accident was clearly not her fault, the local authorities have charged her with negligence. This kind of incident is unfortunately common in Mexico, where some motorcyclists deliberately cause minor accidents to claim insurance money.

Tragically, Hilda has been arrested and is currently being held in prison. As an American citizen, she is facing an incredibly challenging legal system, and the outlook is bleak without immediate intervention. We have been informed that without the ability to post bail, Hilda could remain in prison for 2 to 4 years before her case is even heard.

The prison system in Mexico is not like the USA. Every minute Hilda spends there, she is in danger due to the high risk of being harmed or even killed. The conditions are harsh, and her safety is a constant concern for our family.

The bail has been set at $5000, and we are urgently trying to raise the funds to secure her release and bring her home. Hilda is a kind-hearted and caring individual who would never intentionally harm anyone. She is a loving sister, daughter, and friend who needs our help now more than ever.
