QGroup is a ongoing, weekly lunchtime support group for queer and trans youth at a San Francisco public continuation high school that Naomi and Kimberlynn have been running for the past few years. In the past we had funding from local community orgs to buy lunch every week, pay for field trips, and provide our participants with gift cards and supplies.

Unfortunately this year we no longer have access to the same funding so we are asking our community to help us pay for lunches, field trips, and group supplies. In order for students to be engaged during a lunch time group they need to be fed, which is our biggest expense. We would use any remaining funds for other enrichment activities.

Last year we took two field trips. The first was to the Castro and visited the LGBTQ youth clinic, LYRIC, and the GLBT Historical Society Museum to learn about resources, youth services and Queer and Trans history- and then stopped at Hot Cookie for a treat :).

The second field trip we took was to the Transgender District in SF and we went to Fluid Cafe (a queer and trans run cafe) to meet and learn from young trans entrepreneurs. Our students got to learn about queer and trans organizing, business ownership and creating community spaces while also sampling the delicious drinks and snacks they served.
