My name is Dashia Frayne , and I’m reaching out for support during one of the hardest times of my life. My grandfather recently passed away after a difficult battle with mesothelioma. He and my grandmother, Lorraine Mary Frayne, raised me, and they have always been my biggest supporters. Not being able to be there for him in his final moments has been heartbreaking, but now, my priority is my grandmother.

Before his passing, my grandfather arranged for her to be in an assisted living home. While I am grateful that she has a safe place to stay, I know in my heart that I should be the one taking care of her. She is devastated and feels so alone, calling me in tears because I’m not there with her. It breaks me knowing she’s grieving by herself, and I just want to be there to comfort her.

I have been saving up to travel to her, and I’ve already secured a bus ticket and two nights at the closest hotel within walking distance of her home. Unfortunately, visiting hours mean I can’t stay with her, and after these two nights, I will have nowhere to go if I can’t raise the funds to continue staying nearby.

I am asking for help so I can remain close to my grandmother, afford basic necessities like food, and have a place to stay while I work towards securing financial aid for school. I am enrolled in online college courses with the goal of becoming a chiropractor, and I am determined to build a future where I can support both myself and my grandmother.
