Meet Hemi!

Hemi’s story with us began in February 2021, when a foster brought in a sweet little cat who had nowhere else to go.

Hemi had been trying to join a feral cat colony, but the other cats weren’t accepting him. Instead, they kept attacking him. He was clearly not cut out for life on the streets. He was incredibly friendly, gentle, and just wanted somewhere safe to belong.

The foster who brought him in was heartbroken because she didn’t have anywhere for him to go.

And then we met him.

There was just something about this sweet little boy. We couldn’t let him go back to a situation where he wasn’t safe, so we decided to give him a home.

And he’s been part of our family ever since. 💜

The funny thing about Hemi is that, despite his rough start with other cats, he absolutely LOVES everyone. People, cats, dogs — it doesn’t matter. Hemi has never met a stranger. He gives kisses to everyone he meets and happily makes biscuits on anyone willing to accept his affection. He’s genuinely one of the sweetest little souls we’ve ever known.

Unfortunately, Hemi has also developed some complicated medical needs.

He has feline asthma, which requires daily inhaler treatments and medication. More recently, we discovered a mass in his neck that is putting pressure on his airway, making his respiratory condition more challenging to manage.

Because of the mass’s location and his underlying asthma, Hemi has needed advanced diagnostic testing, including a CT scan, and specialist evaluation. Depending on the findings and recommendations, he may also need surgery performed by a specialized veterinary surgeon.

Between diagnostic testing, specialist appointments, medications, and the possibility of surgery, Hemi’s veterinary expenses have added up quickly, with potentially more to come.

Thankfully, Hemi is still our sweet, happy little boy. We’re committed to continuing his care and giving him the best quality of life possible.

We’re creating this fundraiser to help offset some of the veterinary expenses we’ve already accumulated and prepare for whatever additional care he may need.
