Help Karen Rebuild Her Sm
Help Me Rebuild My Smile and My Confidence
My name is Karen, and I am 55 years old. I never imagined that losing my teeth would affect so many parts of my life.
Because of a hereditary gum disease, I eventually had to have all of my teeth removed. Although having them removed was necessary for my health, adjusting to life without my natural teeth has been incredibly difficult.
Since losing my teeth, I have struggled with my confidence in ways I never expected. I find myself avoiding social situations, feeling uncomfortable meeting new people, and worrying about how others see me. It has even affected my ability to pursue employment because I don't always feel confident enough to walk into an interview or interact with people the way I used to.
It has also affected my family life. Taking family pictures used to be something I enjoyed, but now I often feel embarrassed about my appearance and don't want to smile or be in photographs. I miss being able to laugh and smile freely without thinking about how I look.
Another major impact has been my weight. Losing my teeth has made eating difficult, and I have lost an extreme amount of weight. At 55, and otherwise in pretty good health, this has been a very difficult change for me physically and emotionally.
I am raising money to help pay for dental implants and the dental treatment necessary to restore my smile and ability to eat comfortably. This isn't simply about wanting a beautiful smile. For me, it is about being able to live my life with confidence again, interact with people without embarrassment, pursue employment opportunities, enjoy meals, take pictures with my family, and feel like myself again.
The emotional impact of this experience has been significant. I want the opportunity to rebuild my confidence, improve my quality of life, and move forward without constantly feeling ashamed of my smile.
I know that times are difficult for many people, and I am incredibly grateful for anything anyone is able to contribute. If you cannot donate, sharing my fundraiser with your friends, family, and social media network would mean just as much to me.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story, for understanding what this means to me, and for helping me take a step toward getting my smile—and my confidence—back.
