Help Kevin Lusso
Kevin Lusso and his Journey with End of stage Heart Failure.
As many of you know Kevin , Kevin has had a rough time the past 2 years with his heart . Kevin underwent open heart surgery in December of 2023 and had a few close calls .Kevin was hospitalized at Research Hospital in Kansas city Missouri for over a month in ICU. The doctors told.us that unless he had a quadruple by pass ( open heart surgery) that.he wouldn't make it out of the hospital, so Kevin had the surgery. Two days after his surgery Kevin while still in icu Kevin started crashing on us and he coded they told me that they were taking him back into the operating room and opening him back up or he wouldn't make it and had me say my goodbyes to him just in case . By the grace of God Kevin made it and the doctors were able to fix what was wrong . upon his release from Research hospital Kevin seemed to be recovering well until a week after his release and he was admitted to have fluid drained from around his heart .Kevin stayed in the hospital 4 days and was released.. During the time Kevin was in the hospital fighting for his life and him in critical condition we lost anything and everything we had and he had worked for during this time .. Our vehicle ( his truck ) was stolen and vandalized ( to the point it was not repairable) . we hadnt had the truck long and had no insurance so we just were at a loss . Every tool he had was taken anything of value was gone .We lost our home and job. When Kevin was released we went to his families home and have been staying where ever we can find since the time of his release from Research hospital. This past December two days after Christmas I woke up to Kevin collapsing in the floor of a friends home where we were staying at .I performed CPR until paramedics could arrive and was able to get a pulse before they arrived Kevin was taken to St Lukes South in Overland Park Kansas where the doctors confirmed the stroke and said Kevin only has an ejection fraction rate of his heart function of 15% and the front 2/3 of his heart is dead and. He would need a heart transplant to live . Kevin was in icu there for 7 days and from there I knew I needed help with him and for the stress of being newly homeless so we went to Springfield Missouri to get help from my family . we were in Springfield two days and had to rush Kevin to the emergency room and he was admitted to icu and listed in critical condition his heart was beating at 180 bpm and they had to try and shock his heart back into rhythm and told !e that he needs on the list for a transplant immediately and he needed a pacemaker/ defibrillator implanted and attached to his heart he developed an infection so they were trying to get that under control so they could get that imp!anted and while trying to do that Kevin got the flu type A and the surgery was cancelled again. Kevin was in the hospital in Springfield for 9 days in icu and he wanted to see his surgeon and cardiologist in Kansas City so we were released from Cox South Hospital in Springfield Missouri trying to.find out how we were going to get him back to Kansas city and in the process 2 days later we had to call an ambulance for Kevin it was his heart again .we were told we needed to get back to Kansas city to his cardiologist and we had no transportation and no one wanted to take us . we finally days later got dropped off in Kansas city and Kevin was admitted to Research Hospital in Kansas city because he was getting sick again and the doctors stabilized him and implanted the pacemaker/ defibrillator he was hospitalized for two weeks and released and told he has " Advanced End of Stage Heart Failure". The doctor also told us that being homeless and unstable was not good that the stress alone from this could cause his condition to progress and could lead to death. I work when I can and do as much as possible I take care of Kevin but his health is declining with us being homeless a friend let us use an old rusted truck that is currently broke down again as the brakes went out and we have been living in the truck and wherever we can.find to stay .the stress of living like this is wearing on Kevin and he is getting worse sick I'm not sure how much more his heart can take .we are currently waiting to hear back from social security on his disability and his lawyers said it should be within the next 30 days and he will definitely get it but we need to raise money to get a roof over our head and where Kevin can rest and be comfortable his health is declining rapidly and maybe a cheap vehicle to get him to and from doctor appointments .we have no help from any of our family mine or his. Kevin has declined to be put on the heart transplant list as of right now. The doctors aren't real sure he would be a good candidate for one being we are homeless and unstable as we are so they aren't sure that he would be accepted as a heart transplant recipient because of that alone .
So we are asking for donations to help us with getting a place to live and a way to get him to his appointments until his disability gets approved so we can prove we are stable and Kevin would qualify, benefit and get Approved to be put on the heart transplant list and Kevin would have a chance to live .
If you are able to donate please do any donation of any amount will help and is greatly appreciated by Kevin and I both . p!ease keep Kevin and I both in your thoughts and prayers as we battle this battle and fight for his life .Because God knows I love tkevin with my heart and soul and losing him isn't an option in my heart .
