Well here we are, sitting in the hospital and just a few days ago we heard what no family wants to hear “I'm sorry, but you have cancer”. Of course our minds race and the questions become endless. My husband who is our rock, our protector, and the one who can get it all done is now the one we have to be strong for and somehow figure out how to fill his shoes while we figure out what the future looks like as well as the present. Just a few short days before writing this, my husband Kyle Vandemark was having fevers and finally felt bad enough to head to the doctor to get checked out. He has never been the type to let being sick get to him and normally just pushes through like most hard headed men. But this time was different, we knew it wasn't just the normal cold or virus going around. Once admitted the tests began and in no time we were told he has Acute Myeloid Leukemia, which before this was something you read about on the internet and was something that happened to “other people”. We are your normal American middle class family, we put God first as our family foundation and we know everything from there is his will. We work outside the home and have 4 beautiful daughters. Kyle's employer is small and isn't able to provide insurance, and for the whole family to be on mine would make it unlivable. We have now been in the hospital for 7 days and they have started Kyle on some very strong rounds of chemotherapy. As the days pass and the treatments and doctors come and go, the all glooming thoughts of finances and what normal life will look like fill my thoughts. In the end we know as faithful servants of Jesus Christ, he has a plan and we will make it through this, one way or another. But now, I'm here, doing what no respectable proud family who has worked hard to build a stable life wants to do, and that is ask for help. We are asking for anyone that can help give financially and above all else Prayers. Please pray for strength, endurance, wisdom, and peace.
