KSU Solidarity Fund

UCWGA-KSU is raising funds to provide direct financial support to KSU workers in need. Please support and spread awareness by donating and sharing.

Our chapter launched a solidarity fund for laid off and furloughed workers in October 2020 and as of April 2021, we have made 3 rounds of disbursements to aid workers affected by job cuts with medical and living expenses totaling over $3500.

From April 15, 2021 on we are broadening the purpose of this fund. We will continue to raise money to support laid off and furloughed workers and open the fund to ALL KSU workers experiencing urgent financial needs.

Unfortunately, there are many workers at KSU experiencing financial need. According to 2020 IPEDs data, approximately 6.8% of KSU workers make less $30,000 per year and KSU employs 757 part-time faculty at poverty wages and without benefits. Part-time workers are not eligible for the $1,000 bonuses being paid out in March 2021 to USG workers earning less than $80k-- even though they may be some of the neediest workers.

The COVID-19 pandemic has placed heightened financial pressures on some workers while leaving other workers better off financially due to federal stimulus money, the $1,000 bonuses, remote work arrangements, and reduced expenses.

If you're in a position to make a one time OR regular and ongoing contributions, please donate here to help fellow KSU workers in need.

If you are a KSU worker in need of direct financial assistance please contact KSUWorkers [at] gmail [dot] com for more information about how to request support from the KSU Worker Solidarity Fund.

UCWGA/KSU is a chapter of United Campus Workers of Georgia Local 3265 (www.ucwga.com), and affiliate of the Communications Workers of America (www.cwa-union.org).
