Hey everyone! My name is Kat from Houston! I set up this fundraiser to help me and my husband financially recover because my ongoing medical issues. I also want to help others in need.

First, here’s what’s going on with me!

In November of 2023, I started having severe problems with my right arm which caused me to start missing a lot of work. (I have an office job.) I tried two different doctors at first but neither could guide me in the right direction. In May of 2024, I went to a third doctor who diagnosed me with Pronator Syndrome (compressed median nerve in my forearm). I had surgery that same month, and the original recovery time was supposed to be 6-8 weeks. To make matters worse, during my recovery, I started having problems with my left arm, was diagnosed with the same condition, and had surgery for that in December 2024. Unfortunately, as of today (3/29/25), I’m not fully recovered from either surgery!

This whole ordeal has caused me to be in and out of work (latest leave of absence started at the end of October 2024), and I have not been receiving my full salary. My short-term disability only pays out at 60%. Because of all of this, our rent and bills have been severely affected. I’ve even lost my car during this crazy time. 

Now, while I’ve been going through this, I’ve realized that everyone may have their own ordeal/crisis that they’re going through. So, I wanted to shift gears a bit and not only find ways to help us get back on our feet, but I wanted to find a way to help others as well.

So….. 

50% of the money raised from this fundraiser will be donated to Americares. They help get medicine and critical care to families and communities in need. 

The other 50% of the money raised will go towards my husband and I’s everyday expenses (rent, bills, groceries, etc.) to help us get our lives back on track.
