Hello,

A few days ago here in Chicago, I was hit by a car while riding a divvy bike. The driver didn’t stop to check on me or offer any help. They instead sped off and left me hurt on the side of the road. Since then, I’ve been trying to cope with injuries that I know need medical attention, but I still haven’t been able to go to the hospital. I lost my job nine months ago, my savings are gone, and I don’t have health insurance. The truth is, I am terrified of walking into an emergency room and ending up with a bill I have no way to pay. It’s an awful position to be in: knowing I need care, but feeling stuck and afraid because of the cost.

I’m asking for help so I can finally get the medical evaluation I need, including x-rays, treatment, medication, braces, and any medical equipment that will help me heal. Support will also help me cover basic living expenses like rent and groceries while I’m injured and unable to work. It is incredibly humbling for me to ask, and I would not be doing this if I had any other option. If you are able to donate, no matter the amount, it would mean so much to me.
