Help Me Keep Working
I'm Working Hard to Get Back on My Feet, but I Need a Helping Hand
Asking for financial help is something I never imagined I'd have to do. I've always believed in working hard, taking responsibility for myself, and doing everything I can to make ends meet.
But I've reached a point where, despite my best efforts, I'm struggling just to keep my head above water.
I'm not someone who's afraid to work. I've spent more than 15 years doing remodeling, home repairs, renovations, and other hands-on work. I take pride in what I do and in being able to turn something worn out or unfinished into something useful and beautiful.
Unfortunately, having the skills and willingness to work hasn't been enough to overcome the financial challenges I'm facing.
Losing My Mother Unexpectedly
One of the most painful experiences of my life was losing my mother unexpectedly.
Her passing left a hole in my life that nothing could ever fill. Making an already devastating situation even more difficult was the fact that her $20,000 life insurance policy had lapsed just one month before she passed away.
The financial safety net that would have been there was gone.
No amount of money could ever replace my mother, but losing that protection during such a difficult time was another painful setback.
I've tried to keep moving forward, but life has continued to present challenges that have made it increasingly difficult to regain stability.
The Cost of Simply Getting to Work
One of my biggest ongoing struggles is that I don't own a vehicle.
My work requires traveling to different job locations, often carrying tools and equipment. Without reliable transportation of my own, I frequently depend on Uber rides just to get to and from work.
Many of these rides are arranged by the people I work for, but they're not free. The transportation expenses are deducted directly from my pay.
There have been weeks when transportation alone has cost me hundreds of dollars, sometimes $300 to $400 or more.
That means I can work hard all week and still lose a substantial portion of my earnings before I ever have a chance to put money toward bills, groceries, utilities, or other necessities.
It's an exhausting cycle.
I need transportation to work. I need to work to earn money. But the cost of transportation keeps taking away the money I need to get ahead.
Having a dependable vehicle would make an enormous difference. It would allow me to reach more jobs, carry my tools, and keep more of what I earn instead of continually spending so much of it just getting to work.
My Home and Financial Situation
I'm currently behind on essential bills, and my living situation has become another source of worry.
The home where I live needs significant repairs, including deteriorating exterior siding, damaged trim, exposed wood, and areas around the exterior staircase.
I've included photographs showing these conditions because I want to be transparent about what I'm dealing with.
The frustrating part is that I have the knowledge and skills to make many of these repairs myself. But when I'm struggling to cover everyday expenses and transportation, buying the necessary materials becomes another financial obstacle.
Moving somewhere else isn't something I can afford right now either.
I'm doing what I can with what I have, but I need some help getting out of this situation.
Examples of My Work: What I'm Capable of Doing
I've also included before-and-after photographs of actual remodeling projects I've personally worked on.
I'm sharing these because I want people to see that I'm not asking for help because I don't want to work. I'm asking because I want to be able to keep working and build a stable future.
Mancave Conversion and Entertainment Room
One group of photographs shows the transformation of an unfinished room into a completed entertainment space.
The pictures document the project through different stages, from the original exposed framing and unfinished walls to drywall preparation, construction, and the finished room with a custom entertainment wall, lighting, and fireplace.
Custom Fireplace and Living Room Remodel
Another group of photographs shows a living room transformation involving framing, wall modifications, finishing work, and the installation of a modern electric fireplace and entertainment area.
These pictures show the project progressing from the original room through construction and into the completed result.
These are examples of the kind of work I know how to do and want to continue doing.
I've spent years developing these skills. I have experience, tools, and the determination to work. What I need is an opportunity to overcome the financial barriers that are holding me back.
Why I'm Raising $10,000
I'm hoping to raise $10,000 to help me:
- Catch up on overdue bills and essential living expenses.
- Keep utilities paid and food on the table.
- Cover transportation costs so I can continue working.
- Work toward purchasing a dependable, affordable vehicle.
- Address urgent household needs and regain some financial stability.
My biggest long-term priority is breaking the cycle of spending so much of my earnings just getting to work.
A reliable vehicle would mean more than transportation. It would mean greater independence, access to more work opportunities, and the ability to keep more of the money I earn.
What Your Support Would Mean to Me
I don't expect anyone to solve all my problems, and I'm not asking for a life of luxury.
I want the chance to support myself again without feeling like I'm constantly one bill or one unexpected expense away from falling further behind.
I want to be able to wake up knowing I can get to work, earn my living, and put that money toward creating a better future.
After losing my mother and facing so many difficult circumstances, receiving help would also mean something beyond the financial assistance itself.
It would mean hope. It would mean knowing that even during some of life's hardest moments, there are still people willing to give someone a chance.
I know many people are struggling financially, and I would never want anyone to give more than they can comfortably afford.
Whether you're able to donate $5, $10, $25, or any amount at all, every contribution would be sincerely appreciated.
And if you're unable to donate, simply sharing my fundraiser with others would mean a great deal.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story, for looking at the work I've accomplished, and for considering helping me get back on my feet.
I'm not asking anyone to give me a future. I'm asking for a little help so I can continue building one for myself.
Fundraising transparency: I'm sharing my story on more than one fundraising platform to reach more people. My overall fundraising goal is $10,000 across all platforms combined, not $10,000 from each one. I'll provide updates on the combined progress and how the donations are helping.
