I’ve been in a tough spot for a long time. My father passed back in 2016 after years of suffering from heart attacks and a stroke. I had been helping my mom care for him from 13-15. Then after he passed she became disabled around 2019 due to spinal stenosis and recurring kidney infections. She’s been in and out of the hospital for over a year now and just had surgery. She’s home now and is on a catheter temporarily.

I’m responsible for her care 24/7 which means I administer insulin and medications, change her, bathe her, feed her, do all household chores, do the grocery shopping, and help her handle her bills. We are months behind on utility bills and yes I’ve applied to every program for assistance and have yet to hear back even though I applied October 1st.

Her medical bills and the utility bills and the rent are drowning us.
