Help Meg Kick Fibro's Booty

Hello there,

My name's Meg, and I've been dealing with a health crisis for nearly two years. It started out with my getting sick with what I thought was the flu, but all too often, in 2009. It escalated to the condition being constant, with other symptoms piled on as well, including no longer being able to walk reliably. (I describe it all in the video above.)

My condition is partially caused by damage from B12 deficiency, which they say was probably a congenital deficiency (from birth) due to the extent its damage. Without that diagnosis in the Fall of 2015, I'd be dead by now, it's serious stuff.

Recently I was also finally diagnosed with a disease called fibromyalgia, something doctors know frustratingly little about. They do know that I have a compound heterozygous genetic mutation called Methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase, or MTHFR for short (ha), which is often found with the other two conditions. Sadly, there are no cures for fibromyalgia––but there are lifestyles changes you can make to manage it:

After Googling “everything hurts all the time” in 2015 and coming up all fibro, I switched my diet accordingly and have kept it up. A couple of my doctors also suggested moving somewhere hotter and drier, and a very generous friend of mine offered to move me to California to live with her and her family. (!)

But something I haven't been able to try is “exercising through the pain.” It's been out of reach because of the likely risk of going into a flare, which is weeks of super-intensified symptoms that make even the little bit I've been keeping up with totally impossible.

Which brings us here. I'm hoping to raise enough money to get my expenses covered for a bit so I can give this a shot and not worry about scraping together freelance work in my functional hours. It will also help get me through this coming move: from Portland, Oregon to Canyon Country, Los Angeles.

This is the third online fundraiser for me during the two years since this health crisis got serious--I'm so grateful for everything that's been done for me already. I can't thank you/them enough. I really appreciate any help at all, I just chose a number for the goal. This is a bonkers hard situation and every little bit helps.

I really appreciate your watching/reading, and I hope that your day is an amazing one.

Thank you,
Meg
