Help Meg Kick Fibro's Booty
Hello there,
My name's Meg, and I've been dealing with a health crisis for nearly two years. It started out with my getting sick with what I thought was the flu, but all too often, in 2009. It escalated to the condition being constant, with other symptoms piled on as well, including no longer being able to walk reliably. (I describe it all in the video above.)
My condition is partially caused by damage from B12 deficiency, which they say was probably a congenital deficiency (from birth) due to the extent its damage. Without that diagnosis in the Fall of 2015, I'd be dead by now, it's serious stuff.
Recently I was also finally diagnosed with a disease called fibromyalgia, something doctors know frustratingly little about. They do know that I have a compound heterozygous genetic mutation called Methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase, or MTHFR for short (ha), which is often found with the other two conditions. Sadly, there are no cures for fibromyalgia––but there are lifestyles changes you can make to manage it:
After Googling “everything hurts all the time” in 2015 and coming up all fibro, I switched my diet accordingly and have kept it up. A couple of my doctors also suggested moving somewhere hotter and drier, and a very generous friend of mine offered to move me to California to live with her and her family. (!)
