Help Mikaila
I am setting up this fundraiser on behalf of my close friend, Mikaila Wise, who was involved in a severe car accident exactly one month ago. While driving, Mikaila’s SUV was struck with such force on the rear driver’s side passenger door by a truck behind her that her vehicle was shoved roughly 10 feet upon impact, veered completely sideways, and slid 40 feet straight into a ditch. The impact was severe enough that emergency services had to step in, stabilize the vehicle, and help her safely out of the passenger side before transporting her via ambulance to the hospital.Thankfully, Mikaila survived, but her life has been completely turned upside down. Her SUV—which was her largest financial asset and her only means of independence—was completely totaled in the crash. Because she used her car to work and generate extra income, losing her vehicle has severely impacted her livelihood. While she does have a small income trickling in right now, it is nowhere near enough to cover her actual living expenses and growing bills. On top of this financial shortfall, she currently lacks any reliable transportation to get to essential medical appointments or the grocery store. To make matters worse, official channels have offered no path forward. The insurance companies have wrongfully denied the claim, and regulatory avenues like the Iowa Insurance Commission have completely closed their doors without providing any help or relief. With legal and state options exhausted, Mikaila has been left to navigate the massive financial aftermath entirely on her own.Right now, Mikaila is facing a mountain of urgent expenses. We are hoping to raise funds to help cover:The severe gap between her current small income and her basic monthly living expenses while she recovers.Basic transportation costs for medical care and groceries.A down payment toward a reliable replacement vehicle so she can regain her independence and get back to work.Mikaila is someone who always steps up for others, whether it's volunteering her time at the local Fort Museum or helping distribute food to lower-income community members at the mobile food pantry. Now, she needs our community to rally around her.Any donation, no matter how small, makes a massive difference. FreeFunder does not charge platform fees, so your support goes entirely to helping Mikaila get back on her feet. If you are unable to donate, please consider sharing this link with your network to help get her story out there.Thank you so much for your kindness.
