Hi everyone, my name is Angie and I am starting this fundraiser on behalf of my friend Nancy. On June 10th, 2026, the Parkside Senior Apartments building was affected by a major fire, and 74 FDNY units responded. Fortunately, all residents were evacuated safely. Unfortunately, Nancy and her cat Blackie have nowhere to stay. Currently, they are staying at a hotel, but they gave them until 7/31 to leave (or until an opening is available at a shelter across the 5 boroughs). Many shelters and apartments are not pet-friendly, which would require her to put Blackie down if she is forced to transfer to a shelter. Blackie is her best friend and the only friend she lives with. Furthermore, all of Nancy’s doctors are on Staten Island, which would not be an ideal commute if she has to transfer to a shelter outside of Staten Island.

Nancy needs all the help she can get from the community to be able to find a pet-friendly apartment to stay in that she can afford. Consider donating what you can to save Blackie’s life and to help him and Nancy find an affordable apartment to rent!
