Help Posy!

Posy is a Gordon Setter / Brittany Spaniel rescue from A Better English Setter Rescue, adopted July 8th, 2025 at 3 months. She is one of two blind dogs in the litter, and was diagnosed with Anterior Segment Dysgenesis prior to her adoption. She was adopted into a home with two other dogs, cats, and birds! Posy is such a sweety. She assumes everyone she meets is going to be a friend and has no concept of a stranger. She always finds her mom and lays across her or up against her to feel safe while she sleeps. She really loves her big brother Nemo; she follows him around and does whatever he's doing. Even if he is barking at something he saw. She will be facing the wrong direction and barking straight up at the sky just so she feels included. Posy's blindness has never slowed her down, and she's a fighter. Her mom is hoping she can get a diagnosis and get better soon!

Posy's medical situation:

A few months ago, Posy started having diarrhea, and she was diagnosed with hookworm. After treatment, she began having diarrhea again, and was given further hookworm diagnosis and treatment. Her diarrhea didn't improve, however, and so they put her on new protein and then new kibble, with no improvement. Posy lost her appetite and was picking at her food, so her owner scheduled a vet visit, but prior to the visit, Posy began pooping inside and the stool was mostly blood. She was rushed to the ER and sent home with a case of severe Giardia, given stronger dewormer meds, pain meds, and anti-nausea. Things seemed to be improving after this, but five days later, she began acting differently again. Her owner scheduled a visit for the next day, but that night around 2 am, Posy's nose began bleeding. She was rushed to the ER and they stopped the nose bleed and got her stabilized. She was told to go to the regular vet the next day, however at this visit, Posy's nose began bleeding again, and she had a fever of 104.6, so was again rushed to the vet emergency. At this point Posy was admitted and they completed a Chemistry Panel, CBC, and Clotting test bloodwork at the ER. Everything came back relatively normal. She was then transferred to Internal Medicine and all the rule out tests were completed; everything came back normal with still no answers. Posy's fever remains difficult to manage and she is showing signs of pain, with nose bleeds starting again anytime she moves around too much. Her owner is currently waiting for the Fungal tests to come back next week, and in the meantime, a CT scan, spinal tap and MRI are scheduled, which should give a solid answer with prognosis.

In attempt to get Posy better, Samantha has worked tirelessly. She's also incurred thousands of dollars of medical expenses, plus more to come once there's a diagnosis and a treatment plan. $7k has been spent so far with emergency vet stays, failed treatments, and tests.\ Further tests scheduled are $3k+. We are attempting to raise funds to help get Posy back to health and home with her loving mom. She just turned one when all of this started happening; she is so young and has so much life ahead of her! We want to reduce the stress of expenses so Samantha can just focus on her poor baby. Please consider donating to help in this unexpected terrible situation.
