A dear friend of mine and a life-long Worthonian needs some help. Bob Schaade has been going through a tough time with his dog, Remy. Remy just turned 5 years old. She and her sister, Lily, were not only littermates but were also adopted together by Bob to give them a lifetime of kisses and love. They have lived a great life in the Chicago suburbs. They have been by each other's side for their entire lives. Remy and Lily loved dashing from the house to the back of their yard. Until late last week when Remy had to undergo a procedure to repair a toe nail that had gotten injured. The vet successfully performed the procedure and sent Remy home without her foot wrapped. Remy quickly lost her appetite and the vet just thought it was from the injury. After a couple of days, Bob decided to get Remy help at the Emergency Vet. Bob found out that Remy was suffering from Tetanus, which from what the vet told him was very rare for dogs. The nearest vet hospital that had the proper treatment was 200 miles away. Bob and his niece, Krista, rushed Remy to the hospital in Champaign/Urbana for treatment. They were told that it would be a tough road for Remy with weeks, if not months, of physical therapy. Well, things got worse for Remy when her heart stopped due to the toxins in her system. Bob had to kiss her and hug her one last time last Monday.

Bob is a dedicated dog dad and has always given to others even if he doesn't have extra money. As any pet owner can tell you, you would do anything for your fur babies and they get ill every now and again but you can never plan for the emotional and expensive illness such as this. The hospital bill will be at least $12,000 not including the previous ER visit and any other expense that comes up.

Please find it in your heart to help Bob by donating to help with the costs of the care that Remy received. Paying these bills will be even harder on Bob now that Remy isn't there to greet him.
