Help save a family
Please help Stephanie and Nate regain custody of their child and get to family in Pennsylvania.
Stephanie and Nate lost custody of their baby girl, Kalani in Larimer County Colorado in August of 2022. Unfortunately, the child welfare system can be hard to traverse for parents trying to regain their children; however, it can be even harder for parents who are financially challenged and have little to no support. Stranded in one of the most expensive areas to reside in both Nate and Stephanie have worked tirelessly to try and meet the demands of Larimer County Courts, while also trying to fight their way out of homelessness, in an area known for having a lack of affordable housing. Most landlords in Larimer County and surrounding areas require a person to earn 3x the rent amount in order to secure a rental, as well as first month's rent, deposit, and in some instances even last month's rent. The average rental cost in Larimer County is approximately $1,400 / month for a one-bedroom apartment, that's an average of between $2,800 - $4,200.00 to move into an apartment. How many people have that money set aside? There are many barriers facing Nate and Stephanie; however, none more difficult to overcome than the housing issue. The Larimer County child welfare department is asking Nate and Stephanie to gain stable housing before returning custody of their child. We're hoping that a go fund me page will help Nate and Stephanie overcome the lack of housing so they can regain custody of their child. Once Nate and Stephanie have Kalani back, their plan is to make their way to their Auntie Helen in Pennsylvania where they can live surrounded by supportive family and in a place that is much more affordable to live a comfortable life, while raising their daughter.
Every single donation will go towards helping these parents secure housing, repair their vehicle, which has served as their home for several months, and move towards family in PA once DHS closes their case.
