​Hi, my name is Brittany. I’m 29 years old, and I am writing this because I have reached a breaking point. I’ve always been a worker and someone who handles things on my own, but right now, I am fighting a battle I cannot win without help.

​In December, I lost my job. It was a perfect storm of my own health issues and the fact that I am the primary, full-time caregiver for my best friend. My friend is 31 years old and is currently fighting Stage 4 cancer while also managing epilepsy.

​Because of our medical situations and the loss of my income, we are now facing the terrifying reality of eviction and the repossession of our only vehicle. This car is our only way to get him and I to our appointments.

​The Hurdle:

I have spent weeks reaching out for help. I’ve gone to the trustee’s office and local churches. While I have found some organizations willing to help, my apartment complex has a strict policy: they will not accept third-party charity checks until I can make a significant payment on the balance myself. It’s a "catch-22" that has left us stuck and staring at an empty bank account.

​Where the funds will go:

We have no family nearby to lean on—it’s just the two of us. Every dollar raised will go directly toward:

• ​The initial rent payment required to "unlock" the charity assistance we’ve already applied for.
• ​Catching up on car payments so we don't lose our transportation to the hospital.
• ​Basic utilities to keep our home safe

​I am actively searching for full-time employment that will allow me to provide for us again, but I need a bridge to get there so we don't end up on the street in the meantime.
