Help save Shyla
Update! We have reached the initial goal - every dollar exceeding this will go toward Shyla and her recovery! Thank you so much for donating and sharing. We are forever grateful for your help! <3
We are in desperate need for help saving Shyla!
Shyla is a ten year old Tamaskan dog (Husky/Alaskan Malamute/German Shepherd mix).
She was abandoned by her previous owner, and left tied to a tree in a backyard, all by herself, for 5 months. A neighbor fed her. Then, after being in four different foster homes in less than a month, she came to us on June 4th this year. We were gonna foster her, but quickly realized we couldn't let this little love bug go.
Despite all the bad things that have happened to her, she is super calm and loving. She looks like a wolf, but is sweet as a lamb. All she wants is to be loved. She doesn't care about treats as long as she gets cuddles and bellyrubs. <3
Shyla was overweight and had trouble walking when she came to us, but with regular exercise, supplements, diet food and lots of love, Shyla's health started to improve, or so we thought.
But on July 4th - she became spooked by the fireworks and ran away. Any dog owners worst nightmare. We were desperately looking for her. After 48 hours on her own, she was found safe and alive. We were beyond happy! BUT, Shyla was in bad condition. She could barely walk.
After a trip to the vet, it turned out a ligament in her right knee was torn. The vet concluded it was a long-term injury and it was just a matter of time before it would tear. To make matters worse, it turns out Shyla's right wrist and left knee are painfully arthritic. Leaving her with only one healthy leg, Shyla is in constant pain. She's having trouble getting up, and when she manages to carry herself up, she collapses, or tips over most of the time. Its so painful to see her like this. She is in desparate need of surgery in order to walk again. But the surgery and treatments will cost at least $4000.
All we want is to give Shyla the happy, healthy life she deserves, but unfortunately we are unable to take the financial burden ourselves. She's been through so much, and we want to do everything in our power so she can live the rest of her life in the best way possible. Please help Shyla if you can. Any contribution helps. <3
We are starting weekly laser treatments and anti inflammatory medication and supplements to get her arthritis in check now.
And as soon as we raise the funds for the surgery, we'll book it.
