Hello everyone,

It has taken me a long time to take this step because, until recently, I did not feel safe enough to ask for help. I ultimately traveled across the country on a 36-hour train ride to make sure my baby and I could get to safety.

Since relocating, we have faced several serious challenges. My former landlord in Philadelphia has been reporting false information to tenant-screening companies. He is now ignoring my attempts to communicate, so I cannot even reach an agreement or resolve the issue. Because of this, I was denied a $900-per-month apartment that would have been perfect for my baby and me. At this point, my only available option is an apartment that costs approximately $1,600 per month.

I have also experienced serious postpartum health issues, in addition to my chronic illness flaring because of the stress and trauma. These health challenges have made it much harder for me to navigate everything, obtain the documents I need to begin working, and manage all of the other urgent issues we are facing.

Thankfully, I have a job that should support us in the long term. We just need a little help getting through this difficult transition.

What the funds will cover

• Travel to Philadelphia to file court documents, since some filings must be completed in person.
• Diapers, wipes, and other baby supplies.
• The first month’s rent for our new home.

I’m keeping this fundraising goal as small as possible, and I am able to repay people who contribute. If you need repayment, please let me know your preferred deadline. I’m also open to trades when possible.
