Update (11/1/25): My race is TOMORROW, Sunday, November 2nd! My goal was to sponsor three more kids this week (for a total of six) and donations have come in to sponsor two of the three. I'm now $404 away from being able to sponsor a 6th child! Can you push me towards that goal and transforming another child's life forever in the process?

Note: $790 was raised on my previous fundraising page (GoFundMe which I'm still trying to get the funds from!), which was enough for me to sponsor one child and only $146 away from sponsoring another one when I started this fundraiser since GoFundMe wasn't giving me the funds donated. 😞

For the Baker's Dozen Challenge I recently completed the next $146 was raised, and I sponsored a second child. I'm now only $58 away from sponsoring a 3rd child! Once I reach the $58, I'll add $468 to the goal to work towards sponsoring another child!

As GoFundMe refunds the original donors $, the donors will donate here and the total donations amount should gradually increase.

Hello! Thank you for visiting my crowdsourcing fundraising page!

First, a little about me and my work with World Vision/Team World Vision. My name is Jim Rang and I'm married and we live in Indianapolis, Indiana and have five children.

This is my 12th year running with Team World Vision, raising money and awareness to be part of solving the clean water crisis in my lifetime. Over my years running with TWV, generous donors have supported me in the clean water work with donations of over $75,000, transforming the lives of over 1,522 women and children (and their communities) forever!

I have run 10 half marathons with Team World Vision. My first (and only) marathon was my first year with TWV. This year, I'm stepping up to the challenge of running another marathon, my first "major" marathon, which is also the largest marathon in the world, the New York City marathon on November 2nd, 2025!

As part of running this marathon, we are asked to find sponsors for 10 children. I'm trying to use crowdfunding to be able to sponsor at least 10 children. Keep reading to see how you can be part of holistic transformation of a child's life without a monthly or yearly ongoing commitment. Children are at the heart of World Vision's work in communities. The founder of World Vision's had a powerful vision for every child: "life in all its fullness".

Sponsoring a child is the most personal, effective way to fight poverty. When a child in need is sponsored, a special relationship is built that encourages that child with hope for the future. Plus, the sponsorship dollars joins forces with other sponsors to lift that child and children in the community out of poverty. (Because of World Vision's community focused solutions, for every child sponsored, 4 more children will benefit too!)

My wife and I currently sponsor two children.

6 pillars of child sponsorship:

• Clean water

• Food Security

○ Children have 3 nutritious meals/day

• Education

• Healthcare

• Economic Development

○ Savings groups

• Child Protection

Here's how this will work...

A child can be sponsored for $39/month or $468/year. Every time donation amounts add up to $468, I'll sponsor the child I've selected for the entire year. I'll be giving the donation to World Vision who will use the money to join forces with other sponsors so that the child and community will be lifted out of poverty. Then, I'll raise the goal amount another $468 to begin raising money to sponsor the next child.

I'll keep doing this until the child sponsorship window for the New York City marathon is closed.

(At the end, any extra money raised will be put towards my Indianapolis half marathon clean water fundraising page which I'm running a week after the NYC Marathon!)

So that the children remain sponsored for subsequent years, I will continue to sponsor them on an ongoing annual basis using realized gains from the stock market. "…a sinner’s wealth is stored up for the righteous" (Proverbs 13:22 NIV) comes to mind.
