Hello everyone, my name is Dominique and I live in the United States.

A few months ago, I came across a queer post on Facebook and noticed a comment from a man named Kiiza. I reached out, and what began as a simple conversation became a connection that opened my eyes to a reality that is difficult to put into words.

Kiiza is part of a group of LGBTQ+ people living in a refugee camp in East Africa. They are people who have already experienced persecution and displacement, yet they continue to face discrimination, threats, harassment, and violence simply because of who they are.

They are struggling for things many of us take for granted: food, safe shelter, clean water, basic medical care, and the dignity of knowing that someone cares about whether they survive.

I have personally helped Kiiza with food, shelter supplies, and medical needs whenever I could. But I have reached a point where I know I cannot do this alone. The needs are simply too great.

Kiiza has repeatedly asked for one thing: for his community to be heard and not forgotten.

I believe every human being deserves to live with dignity, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity. They did not choose displacement, hunger, insecurity, or discrimination. They are simply trying to survive and build meaningful lives despite circumstances that are beyond their control.

I know we cannot change an entire system overnight. But sometimes, changing someone's life begins with something as simple as making sure they have food to eat, a safe place to sleep, or medical care when they are sick.

That is why I am launching this fundraiser for Kiiza and his community.
